Are you being harmed?
The Adult Support and Protection (Scotland) Act 2007 can help you if you are an adult aged 16 or over, who is at risk of harm and find it difficult to protect yourself or your property because of a:
- disability or
- mental disorder or
- illness or
- physical or mental infirmity.
There are things the Act can do to help you. This website can help you understand what harm is under this Act.
If you think the Act can help you then contact your local council who will be able to get help for you to deal with your concerns. The council will not take any action unless you agree and you can say no at any time if you are unhappy with the action. You can also speak to your doctor or the police.
If you do not meet the criteria above but are worried about a situation where you are being harmed or feel at risk of harm there are other helpful organisations that can help you.
